Did you know that Don Bosco often distributed the Miraculous Medal? It would make sense, because he and St. Catherine Labouré were contemporaries. He had an incredible devotion Our Lady and preached about her Immaculate Conception, despite the fierce opposition of heretics. Since today is the first day of May, which is the month of Mary, I would like to tell you the story of Our Lady's apparition to St. Catherine Labouré and how Don Bosco promoted her medal through writing about the conversion of a Jew, named Alphonse Ratisbonne. It's one of the best modern accounts of a conversion to the Catholic Faith I've ever heard.
