Located in Monterey County, Carmel-by-the-Sean, often just Carmel is the quaintest quaint of how much quaint of quaint town can be. Incorporated in 1916, Carmel has become known for its natural scenery and ritzy artsy fartsy homes and community. The houses look like hobbit holes. And those hobbit holes are trapped between glass perimiterred newly constructed homes. It's a very confusing looking place. I bet it was something before renovations.

But still the arts are still very obvious. Downtown has a rustic Italian aesthetic with flags of countries connected or not with the local art community. I'm an outsider and don't know much about the history of this city, obviously, but it seems in recent years the early 20th century art feel is loosing its identity to San Francisco tech folks with money moving in a fucking things up. But hey, what's new?
