PlayStation Access interviews Yoshinori Kitase and Naoki Hamaguchi about making Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and why they’re scared fans will guess the ending. They also reveal their favourite Final Fantasy VII Rebirth party formations and explain why Final Fantasy 7 remains so cherished all these years later.

And while they won't reveal the ending - the interview is spoiler-free - it was interesting to hear them talk about Rebirth’s ending, and the conclusion the wider trilogy is building to. Everyone who played the OG Final Fantasy 7 remembers the iconic ending to disc one, but will Rebirth follow those events in detail? We’ll find out on February 29th!

We played Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and got to talk to Kitase, the legendary director of Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8 and 10, and Hamaguchi, the director of Rebirth. We quiz them about the changes they’ve made from the original and whether they read all the fan theories that came out of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The remakes do an amazing job of balancing nostalgia and surprises, so it’s great to hear how they carefully curate the new versions.
