The minister's appeal comes amid a diplomatic standoff with New Delhi over president Mohamed Muizzu's "India Out" policy. Last week, the Maldives hosted a Turkish warship, months after buying surveillance drones from Ankara. President Muizzu's outreach to Turkiye is part of his policy to de-couple from India.
