The Amazon Smart Thermostat is a new product from Amazon designed to be fully controlled and integrated into the Alexa App.

You do not need an Alexa device to operate the thermostat. It works from the Alexa app for control but you only need an Alexa device if you want to tell it to change the temperature instead of using the app to change the temperature.

Update: Since installing the Amazon Smart Thermostat it's been incredible. I only found two issues.

1) When you set the thermostat schedule you need to be sure to toggle the button "Use Schedule" . If you don't do this, you'll create a schedule but the thermostat won't use it.

2) You can set and hold a temperature from the Amazon Thermostat itself. You can temporarily override the schedule, but as soon as the next schedule change occurs, it will go back to operating under the programmed schedule (it won't hold the temperature indefinitely).
