In this video I talk about why the Mercedes AMG E53 has big shoes to fill. So Mercedes has a history of building some amazing powerful and sporty sedans. Cars like the 6.3 SEL and the 190E EVO come to mind, but also cars like the current E63 comes to mind as well. Well considering none of those cars are attainable at this point, enter the AMG E53.

The Mercedes AMG E53 remains the only attainable, as far as in the inventory, fast AMG sedan Mercedes makes. Finding a V8 powered AMG sedan at this point is like finding a sasquatch riding on a unicorn, its very hard to do. So what about the E53. It’s the mild hybrid powered, inline 6 cylinder, all wheel drive AMG sedan with seating for 5 passengers and a nice size trunk.

But what is the E53, really. Is it supposed to be a tame E63 or a souped up E450. Its confusing because Mercedes has diluted the AMG nameplate into several different trim levels, and AMG doesn’t mean what it used to anymore. So are things different with the AMG E53, we’re going to find out in this review.
