It was in 1999 when Activision and never soft released Tony hawk's pro skater, thereby redefining the entire genre of skateboarding games. With its smooth gameplay, impressive physics, intuitive controls, a variety in gameplay challenges that kept things fresh, and of course the most famous skateboarder of all time attached to the project. While it's primitive by today's standards, Tony hawk's pro skater and its sequels became the tent pole of the entire skateboarding genre a decade. So naturally, it's success spawned a bunch of imitators from similar brands hoping to get their piece of the pie. So today I'm taking a look at that.
