STORM RECOVERY
• Paperwork for repairs from storm damage will be expedited and fees will continue to be waived until 10/31.
• New Jersey American Water repairs have resumed.
• Borough projects (curbs and repaving) have also resumed.
• Rehabilitation work on Division Street will start soon.
• The pickleball court is now open.
• Fencing needs to be repaired in our parks, playgrounds and public work facilities. We expect to evaluate bids soon.
• Parking enforcement has resumed.
• Leaf pickup has begun with the option to bag leaves and leave them at the curb (not the street) or bring bagged leaves to the Public Works facility.
• Chipping operations are suspended until November.

UPCOMING EVENTS
• "Weekend Journey," sponsored by various historical organizations in Somerset County, will be held this Saturday, 10/9 from 10 am - 5 pm and Sunday, 10/10 from 12 - 4 pm.
• “Cultural Diversity Festival," sponsored by Somerset County, will be held this Saturday, 10/9 from 12 - 4 pm at the Courthouse Lawn
• "Firemen’s Inspection Day" starts at 3 pm, this Saturday, 10/9, at Borough Hall with a ceremony and small parade down Main Street. Come cheer for our First Responders!
• Halloween activities are being planned by the Downtown Somerville Alliance, starting at 3 pm, Friday, 10/29. Check the DSA website for details.
• Trick-or-treating in neighborhoods is an individual decision.

SUMMARY FROM LAST NIGHT’S COUNCIL MEETING
• 2 Eagle Scouts, from Troop 83, will be undertaking beautification and restoration projects in town. We look forward to working with them!
• We have negotiated with Scotch Plains to purchase a reserve fire engine from them. The purchase was approved last night.
• The Borough Council unanimously approved all the documents needed to begin the construction of the emergency services facility on Gaston Avenue.
