On Friday, climate activist Greta Thunberg criticized the COP28 climate deal that was reached this week in Dubai, stating that it is a "stab in the back" for nations most affected by global warming, adding she believes it will not stop temperatures from rising beyond critical levels.

She expressed disappointment that the deal was signed when many island states were not in the room and said, “That is completely unacceptable, and we cannot talk about climate justice without having the most affected in the room.”

Thunberg further stated that the 28 COPs have not led to any meaningful progress and that we are still moving in the wrong direction.
