Welcome to Azerbaijan, the land of wonders and the world's first drilled crowd oil well located in the mesmerizing Caspian Sea. As we embark on this extraordinary journey, let us delve into the rich culture and history of this enchanting place.

Azerbaijan, a Western Asian country, has a fascinating past influenced by the Soviet Union. The architecture and the people bear traces of Russian influence, making it a unique blend of cultures. Exploring this country is like stepping into a time capsule of Soviet-era development, with its underground metros and fancy taxis that captivate the imagination.

In my childhood, I dreamt of riding in these luxurious cars, and now that dream is becoming a reality. I discovered that these exquisite taxis are manufactured by Bentley, renowned for their opulence. The design of these cars is truly exceptional and can usually be seen in cities like Baku. It's intriguing to note that they are not deployed as public transportation in other countries but can be owned privately.

We find ourselves at the site of the first oil well, a place steeped in history. Although photography and videography are prohibited, I couldn't resist capturing this momentous occasion. In my homeland, digging wells brings water resources, but here, the ground yields only petrol. Astonishingly, there are thousands of oil drills in this region, and the petrol extracted is exported to various countries, including Russia.

While the abundance of petrol is striking, it's fascinating to note that a 500ml bottle of water costs 0.61 dollars, whereas in our homeland of India, water is readily available for free. Our journey takes us to Yanardag, a mountain where fire has burned for decades, serving as evidence of the vast natural gas and oil reserves in Azerbaijan. Methane gas burns here, leaving no unburned particles, distinguishing it from other gases.

We also visit a Hindu temple that bears testament to the historical trade routes and cultural exchanges. Indian traders who traversed the Silk Road established these sacred temples where people from various countries, including Persia and China, gathered to pray and seek solace. Hindu deities like Lord Ganesh and Nataraja find their revered place among the diverse religious symbols.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been embroiled in a long-standing conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, resulting in a devastating war with countless lives lost. We find ourselves amidst the retired tanks and vehicles, remnants of the conflict. Russia's support for Azerbaijan during this tumultuous period created a strong bond, leading Azerbaijan to assist Russia during the Ukraine war by supplying petrol and other resources.
