ex-North Korean Navy Sailor Chae Seol-hyang served in a submarine unit for 7 years.

Note: All North Korean defectors must go through the South Korean NIS (National Intelligence Service) for background checks before being released into society. This interview intends to capture the fear and anxiety defectors experience in a strange new land, especially based upon the rumors they hear back home. NIS facilities are known to be ‘revolutionary’ for defectors who’re shocked by their modernity, and NIS agents are professionals who are always on the side of the innocent who have escaped the regime.
