Have you ever bought a jar of natural peanut or almond butter and saw a pool of oil floating at the top of the freshly opened jar? It’s a test of skill and patience while trying to mix the oil evenly into the butter without making a huge oily mess down the side of the jar.

Why is the oil there? There’s no added stabilizers to the ingredients list. As a result, the oils in natural nut butters (like almond butter and peanut butter) separate and rise to the top of the jar.

Here’s a hack. Flip the jar upside down and leave it alone for 12-24 hours. Gravity will pull the nut butter down while the oil rises to the top (the bottom) of the jar. Now flip the jar back over. All the oil will be at the bottom, making it so much easier for you to stir and evenly distribute the oil into the nut butter.
