Join me for a journey through the canals and unique culture of Venice, Italy. Venice is one of my favorite places to explore and unwind in Italy, with its labyrinth of canals and narrow walking paths that go on seemingly forever. You really need to get out into the neighborhoods where people live in order to get the full Venetian experience.

As you step onto its labyrinthine walking streets and glide along its picturesque canals, you'll find yourself transported to a world like no other.

Venice, often referred to as the "Queen of the Adriatic," is a living testament to the power and innovation of human creativity. Built upon a network of over 100 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon, this unique city has thrived for over a millennium, captivating the hearts and imaginations of travelers from around the globe.

Attractions
St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco): A stunning example of Byzantine architecture, this basilica is known for its intricate mosaics and rich history. The Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square) in front of the basilica is also a major attraction.

Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale): A magnificent Gothic palace located next to St. Mark's Basilica. It was the residence of the Doge of Venice and a symbol of Venetian political and cultural power.

Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto): One of the most iconic bridges in Venice, spanning the Grand Canal. It's also surrounded by a lively market area.

Grand Canal: The main waterway of Venice, lined with elegant palaces and buildings. Taking a vaporetto (water bus) ride along the Grand Canal is a great way to see the city.
Gondola Rides: While a bit touristy, gondola rides offer a unique way to experience the city's canals and architecture. They're particularly romantic during sunset.

Rialto Market: A bustling market where you can find fresh produce, seafood, and other local products. It's a great place to experience the daily life of Venetians.

Burano and Murano Islands: These nearby islands are known for their colorful houses (Burano) and traditional glass-making (Murano).

Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute: A baroque-style church with a distinctive domed roof, situated at the entrance to the Grand Canal.

Food Recommendations
Dal Moro’s, cheap and fast. Dal Moro’s offers fresh take away pasta that melts in your mouth.
La Zucce Osteria, incredibly delicious and perfect for dinner. Make reservations well in advance of your trip.
