Building a music collection in the days before digital music was an endeavor that required lots of money and physical space, things many people did not have in abundance. A small Canadian company that sold housewares on late night TV came up with a clever idea to solve this problem. Enter the K-Tel record! The commercials boasted 20 or more amazing hits on one vinyl record for a price less than new release LPs by singe artists. For the most part this was true. Even though sound quality and hasty edits of songs could sometimes be an issue, overall these records were an incredible way to get a ton of great music (especially new releases) with minimal investment and without taking over your entire bookshelf.

This Yacht Rock episode features songs from the 70s and 80s all from these "as seen on TV" records. Most are genuine K-Tel while a few are from competitors that came later such as Ronco and TVP. We ran each of these records through our ultra-sonic cleaner to achieve maximum quality possible. We hope you enjoy.
